MANCOSA Alumni motivate matriculants with success stories

Successful graduates of MANCOSA, the private higher education institution, urge those who have recently matriculated to make the correct academic and career choices.

At this time of year when school leavers must evaluate their choices for the future, they are encouraged by MANCOSA alumni to continue to pursue their dreams and plan their career paths. They say it is important to have hope that better days are ahead despite the coronavirus pandemic.

MANCOSA has launched the alumni campaign to inspire others with their success stories which will be posted on MANCOSA’S social media pages – Facebook, Twitter, Instagram and LinkedIn – from 23 to 27 February.

Katlelo Keletso Padi lost her mother at a young age, her father abandoned her and left young Katlelo to take care of her alcoholic grandmother.

Her Diploma in Non-Destructive Testing (NDT) from Vaal University of Technology and a postgraduate diploma in project management at MANCOSA inspired Katlelo to work as a technician for Eskom Rotek Industries in Johannesburg.

She advises matriculants not to forget their roots and that all challenges can be overcome.

“You should go above and beyond and never let go of your dreams.”

Revona Govender worked as a store assistant during her school holidays, in the south of Durban, packing shelves, and as a cashier to earn extra income.

She qualified with a Post Graduate Diploma in Business Management (PGDBM) and an MBA from MANCOSA.

Revona is the Operations Executive at LexisNexis, a leading provider of LegalTech Platforms.

Her advice to matriculants is to never underestimate yourself.

“Despite life’s challenges, keep working hard and pushing yourself to do better, but always take the time to relax and enjoy the rewards of hard work, follow your heart and it will lead you to success.”

Jessica Conradie matriculated from Ladysmith High School, and later studied Sports Science at Stellenbosch University while working.

Her two qualifications from MANCOSA, an MBA and Postgraduate Certification of Education (PCGE) led Jessica to attain her dream job at Durban North College teaching mathematics to grades eight and nine.

The inspiring educator advises young students and matriculants to be flexible, to have the right attitude, and remember that respect is not won only on the basis of a title.

Stephen Okojie, born and raised by a single parent in Nigeria, obtained his first bachelors’ degree in pharmacy.

In 2004, he relocated to South Africa where he obtained his MBA from MANCOSA.

He is a pharmacist inspired by kindness, humility and people who motivate themselves to reach for their goals despite the challenges they experience in their lives.

Stephen’s advice to matriculants is that education is the key to success in life and never question the potential in you. “Be thankful for God each day.”

Nick Vandayar has more than a decade of experience assisting corporates and JSE Listed companies to achieve high market shares. He is the District Sales Manager at Fidelity ADT in KZN.

His PGDBM and MBA at MANCOSA have greatly improved his business acumen. He believes this puts him in a unique position to hold senior positions in the broad business space.

The business and life coach advises matriculants and young students to consider themselves unstoppable in their quest to reach and seize the endless opportunities readily available.
